U.S. Air Force Cadets are arriving this weekend from Colorado, not for spring break but to roll up their sleeves and go to work building or repairing homes for Rockport-Fulton area residents.
It’s part of the Academy’s Alternate Spring Break program. “The cadet-volunteers will team-up with Habitat for Humanity volunteers to work in nine separate locations,” said Maj. Brian Fash, cadet service learning deputy.
A total of ninety-nine cadets are loading up and leaving Colorado Saturday, March 23, and will provide assistance in the Rockport-Fulton area for about ten days. “So far this academic year the cadets have completed 22,031 hours of community service,” Fash said.
The Alternate Spring Break Program began at the Academy in 1999. It’s funded by the Center for Character & Leadership Development and Academy donors.
