FREE Flood Insurance Workshop
To help you better understand post-disaster insurance issues, where the changes are occurring on new flood maps in some of the impacted areas, and how your knowledge of both of these topics can benefit your clients, FEMA has partnered with local communities, Texas Department of Insurance, and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to hold a series of Flood Insurance Workshops in multiple counties across Texas. CFMs will receive CECs for attending both the morning and afternoon workshops. Insurance CECs will be provided for attending the afternoon session on map changes.
Aransas Pass has been part of flood map update. Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps will be released March 16, 2018. We invite you to attend an all day workshop on these two important topics, Post-Disaster Insurance Issues (morning) and Insurance Impact with Mapping Updates (afternoon) on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Agents attending afternoon sessions on map changes will receive 2 CECs for their participation. CFMs will also receive CECs for their participation.
There is no charge for these workshops and we encourage you to share information about these events with fellow insurance agents and other stakeholders including real estate professionals, lenders, surveyors, and builders. Space is limited based on the venue, so mark your calendar and click the EventBrite link below to register your attendance and reserve your seat. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. to allow us time to seat our guests. There will be a break for lunch at the all-day events. Agents will need to bring their license number and ID when they sign-in to receive CECs for the afternoon portion of the full-day workshops.

- Claims process
- Rating
- Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC)
- NFIP Direct vs WYO
- Insurance Resources and Marketing
1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Updated Flood Mapping and Reform Legislation Effects on Insurance topics include:
- A review of recent map changes in the area
- Rating options for properties whose flood risk have changed
- Impacts of reform legislation and changes to the National Flood Insurance Program
- Using online tools and resources to assist you.
In addition, the Texas Department of Insurance will share resources and information at this workshop. This information is valuable to real estate professionals, lenders, builders, and surveyors, as well as insurance agents.
